Brace yourself people, the time of the year when the whole country goes on a red spree, peppered with some absolutely noisy chinky-chongy festive music (but don't stop playing it if you wanna get rich in the new year) and of cos it's the time to gather one's family and do what we Chinese do best...FEAST!
The Lunar New Year is just around the corner, and many of you are probably already on your back to your respective hometowns to reunite with your families now. Wherever that maybe, have a safe journey home.
Apart from looking forward to receiving Ang Paos, Chinese New Year is also the reason to overindulge in one of my favourite festive dishes (no, it's not McD's Prosperity Burger!)...YEE SANG! This non-nutritious-bad-for-health but absolutely yummylicious dish normally starts kicks start a meal with family and friends gathered together to usher in the new year.
In my family, I would normally be the one finishing up the whole dish and then forgoing the rest of the dinner thereafter! So if you do see me anytime from now until the Chap Goh Meh...do offer a plate of Yee Sang and let's toss to a great new year ahead with plenty of golds, luck, riches, love and good health.
To all, GONG XI FA CAI!
p/s: I accept all offering of Pineapple Tarts and Bak Kwa too! Yummmzzz
Hehe, Kung Hei Kung Hei to you! Selamat Tahun Tikus and all that yee sang...
ReplyDeleteSpeaking of which, are we gonna have Round Two of this dish tomorrow? O do say yes...
I had a long of good homemade yee sang's this year. Added tons of pamelo and china sweet pear to it.
ReplyDeleteteckie: yeah agreed, the golden pear slices really makes the yee sang fresh in taste and gives it a good dimension. the worst a yee sang can taste is when it's all blend or if it tastes too fake.
ReplyDeleteSo, when are you inviting me for a taste of your home made yee sang? LOL
