It's only the second day of the lunar new year and I'm stuffed like a pig that is ready to be roasted. And from all the tweet and Facebook updates I've been reading, I know I'm not alone. Come next week, I'm sure the gym will be packed with many prosperous and guilty souls since all these feasting started waaaaay earlier than the actual festival itself.
Case in point, Queen Lemon(grass) organised the troop together for something she calls the "Reunion before the Reunion Dinner". And indulged we did on delicious classic Green View dishes like Suckling Piglet, Sang Har Meen (River Prawns Noodles) and of course no Chinese New Year reunion is complete without Yee Sang. We tossed two whole plates on a spinning lazy susan while shouting auspicious phrases. We were so loud, you'd think we're screaming Chinese profanities (choi!) with chopsticks instead. Talk about going over the top!
Now, I'll try to say these in the most gentle Cantonese I know how: Kong Hei Fatt Choy, Sun Tai Kin Hong, Sum Seong See Seng, Chut Yup Ping Onn, Tai Kat Tai Lei and Long Mah Jing Sun. Have a thumping new year ahead.

ReplyDeleteArghh, nodding my head while reading this and munching on some kind of peanut kuih. It's not the lunches and dinners that will kill us, but all the cookie-munching in between! And the worst fate awaits folks like me who don't go to gyms!
ReplyDeletePoor little (delicious) piggy.
