I got a call from a brother yesterday who needed a favour. He wanted me to share something he has written for his late mother on the second anniversary of her passing. I am really honoured to share this touching tribute that was written for a beautiful, strong and generous woman, who I've had the privilege of knowing in my lifetime. I know she is deeply missed by many, but not as much as the ones closest to her. Aunty, this is for you, wherever you are:

Bro, hope I've done your tribute justice.
I'm not one who is good with words, especially when it comes to matters of the heart. So, I'm going to leave you with a song. "Fly Away" by Corrinne May is a personal favourite of mine. Turn up the speakers and have a listen. It has soothed me in times of great sadness, and I hope it too will help you find peace. Especially for you, my brother:
"You can fly so high,
Keep your gaze into the sky,
I'll be praying every step along the way,
Even though it breaks my heart to know we'll be so far apart,
I love you too much to make you stay,
Baby, fly away..."
Wishing everyone a blessed Easter, a good Qing Ming and a relaxing Sunday ahead.
That was really touching.. :)

ReplyDeleteThat was very touching. 2 years sounds like a long time but I still think of Mum almost everyday. She is a touchstone for my life still. Thank you for posting this on our Lord's day of resurection
ReplyDeleteSweet post there, Munkey!
ReplyDeleteHappy Easter's, and Fantastic Sunday to you.
Very moving letter...
ReplyDeleteAnd I love LOVE love that song.
Makes me tear every time I hear it.
I emailed Corrine May on her website to tell her how beautiful her song is, and she actually took the time to reply. Very down to earth girl she is.
Blessed Easter to you, Jon.
reminded me of my grandfather...sigh...
