The fastest way to make a good and healthy breakfast is to cook up some eggs, toast some bread and have a glass of milk or juice. Speaking of eggs, there are a few ways to prepare them, but of course when I'm feeling really lazy, I'd just boil them up and eat it without much thought.
Have you ever been frustrated by not being able to get your boiled eggs right? They are either too soft or too hard? Well now, no matter where I am or how big the eggs are, there is a solution. I've downloaded The Perfect Egg Timer from the iTunes App store as it was listed under the Staff Favorite section and it cost a mere US$1.99. And I was in the mood for some retail therapy.
What I really like about the app is that the timer calculates the exact cooking time based on the egg size, altitude of your location and temperature. Can't get any more precise than that, eh? In order to measure the exact size of the egg, you can simply place it on the iPhone screen and set the size using your fingertip to the nearest millimeter. You can then determined your altitude manually or just automatically by GPS. Apparently, eggs cook differently at different heights. You can also tell your iPhone if you have kept your eggs in the fridge or room temperature and how you like your eggs done - soft-boiled, hard boiled, or something in between. I like the white hard and my yolk wet but not runny.
The timer also has a screen to show you approximately how your egg looks like on the inside during the cooking process. You can then determine when you want to remove it or just leave it until your iPhone rings the alarm.
Brilliant ain't it? No wonder it has been the voted the #1 "Lifestyle" category bestselling iPhone app in Germany, Austria, UK and Switzerland.
