Kow Po Coffee Shop: Finest Ice Cream in Bentong

This is the third and final part of our road trip to Kuala Lipis. On the way back we made a quick pit stop over at Bentong for dessert.

For over 30 years, Mr. Tan Kow Po and his family have been serving tired travelers with a friendly smile. Their signature home made ice cream is what everyone is actually here for, but their warm hospitality is sure welcoming.

Their silky smooth ice creams with a slight chewy texture comes in different flavours: Coconut, Peanut, Pandan, Banana, Vanilla, Coffee, Chocolate, Sweet Corn and *cough cough* Durian. I found out from an old friend that they are made mainly with tapioca flour, the right amount of sugar and other ingredients known to the Tan family, and the best thing is that you won't have that jelak (had enough) feeling right after the second scoop. I'm sure I could do a third scoop, but I was too stuffed from the earlier lunch. Each scoop is only RM2.00.

Do make this gem of a pit-stop if you ever head this way. We walked around the old Bentong town for a bit before heading back to KL. T'was a sweet road-trip.

  7. Ahhh this sort of ice cream sounds like the type that won't send me into fits with dairy OD! Love ice cream but hate the taste of milk - such bipolarity can only be cured by Kow Po!
